An amazing week with my family - my husband and grown son and his girlfriend. Such joy that we all are so compatible. Having great fun - they went on the canopy tour or ziplining - flying down cables over the tree tops. I did it in March and had my thrills, got over my fears, so we did a gentler hike in the botanical refuge - learned how the trees and plants and animals adapt, evolve and survive. I actually was encourage to eat live termites (you never know when you need to survive in the forest without food) and I actually did it. They are tiny and pretty neutral tasting, with a slight peppery flavor (in case you´re thinking of trying it.
The highlight was horesback riding yesterday for almost 3 hours through the jungle (where lazy monkeys watched us from trees above) by a river, down and up muddy slopes and trotting on the beach. David and Cassie actually galloped!
Today we helped rescue a puppy - so many abandoned dogs here in Nosara Costa Rica. There were 2 puppies at the rental house when we moved in last Sunday. One did not survive, but we named the other Pedro and fed him to fatten him up so he had a chance to survive on his own. then we found out there´s a angel who lives here named Sarah, of Nosara Animal Care, and she took "her" in. Sarah said the puppy was a girl - so we renamed her Pedrita - so much for our animal anatomy skills. Sarah will post Pedrita on her website and is sure she will find her a home.
