HOW I LIVED THE CO CLEANSE - WHAT I ATE Print E-mail
Tuesday, 12 April 2011 00:00

DIARY of my first week of the 11 day Colorado cleanse designed by Dr. John Douillard.  I worked and lived my regular life.

Below are the details, day by day for those interested.

Wednesday, 4/6  Day 1 of Cleanse, Pre-cleanse

Hour of Power – Followed DVD: yoga, breathing and meditation

Shower and oil

Short walk.

Reading in CO Cleanse book

DIET – water, and ayurvedic herbs before and after every meal.

Breakfast – ½ avocado on rice cake.  Whole grapefruit, apple juice, apple

Pumpkin and sunflower seeds

Lunch – sliced beet w lemon – good.  Made smoothie w green beans, celery, zucchini and  parsley – added cumin, extra garlic, ginger and it was a pretty good soup.

Dinner – cooked the bean patties.  Great ingredients: black beans, celery, Portobello mushrooms, red onion, garlic,  ground flax, rolled oats (for body), season to taste. Kind of like the beans in a Mexican dish.       OK. Tasty, not delicious.  Texture a little loose, and can’t have oil so the patties stuck to the pan.

Short nap. Felt tired, maybe beginning to release toxins?

LISTENED TO DOUILLARD’S CALL # 2

Saturday, 4/9  Day 4 of CO Cleanse.  Pre-cleanse

Breakfast: ½ grapefruit, apples and seeds – pumpkin and sunflower. 2 rice cakes w a little strawberry jam.

COOKED a huge pot of Curried MUNG BEANS and BASMATI RICE for Sunday, the beginning of the Main Cleanse.

Sunday, 4/10 Day 5 of the CO cleanse – MAIN CLEANSE begins

The day starts with melting 2 tsp of clarified butter or ghee and mixing with soy milk.  It was not bad, but I love the affects: The ghee starts to chelate the toxins in the fat as the body starts to burn it off and the body moves into fat burning mode.  I love this part!  I need to release toxins (heavy metals along with the garden variety of everyday poisons), as well as what is called “emotional molecules “ stored in the fatty tissues.  So we have Self Inquiry Exercises to do as well.  On this day, the question is, “What Expands You?”  I wrote down all the things I love and brings me joy, and reflect on if I am doing them, and what might be keeping me from doing them more.  Next was to write 3 qualities I love about my loved on, and to express appreciation to him.

The diet on the Main Cleanse - mostly khichadimung beans and basmati rice w curried spices – turmeric, cumin, mustard seed – 3 TIMES A DAY!  This mono-diet of babyfood like consistency is easy for the body to digest.  It tastes really good actually.  Ideally it’s best to have alone, but Dr. Douiillard said we could add in some seasonal cooked fruit, and some vegetables soups or steamed vegetables, or different kinds of spices.  So I did that. I warmed strawberries and pears and had before the khichadi with added cinnamon and rice milk to make it more like a breakfast cereal.

At lunch I was at my sister’s house so I brought my khichadi and heated it up and ate a few leaves, undressed, of the lettuce from her salad.  For dinner I had a small bowl of kale soup.  Jim had the same dinner – even enjoying the mung beans and rice with me – he likes it!

Monday,  4/11

Hour of Power – yoga, breathing and meditation; shower and oil

Day 6 of cleanse - Day 2 of Main Cleanse.

Diet – same khichadi w warmed fruit, tried khichadi with tomato sauce and Italian spices and it was really good.  Dinner  too late -  9 pm same Italian khichadi and some kale/cauliflour soup.

Self inquiry – wrote a love letter to an important person in my life.

WALKED

T 4/12    Hour of Power – yoga, breathing and meditation; shower and oil

Day 7 of cleanse - Day 3 of Main Cleanse.

Diet – breakfast - same khichadi w warmed fruit

Self-Inquiry – Continue “acting with Love”

Moved on to “Drop Childhood Personality Traits”

As instructed, I listed traits I created as a young child to be safe.  I can now let go of those that that no longer serve me.
