Dr. John Douillard led a welcome call on March 30, outlining his Colorado Cleanse.
On Saturday, the whole kit arrived with a book, herbs, a DVD, and a 4 lb bag of Mung beans. There is also email messages, phone calls, and an online support group. Douillard provides a shopping list and I stocked up on the primary foods for the Pre-Cleanse to prepare the body to detox: beets, apples, seasonal green vegetables, and apple juice.
Hour of Power. On Tuesday I prepared for the Cleanse by reading Douillard’s book, Colorado Cleanse and listening to the DVD in which Douillard demonstrates his routine for detox, concentrating on opening up the channels for lymph to aid in the elimination of toxins. He has an efficient system. I began to follow his routine. In whole it took only 45 minutes to do yoga, breathing, and meditation. I felt limber and calm afterwards.
I topped off with a shower and rubbing myself with oil to calm the nerves on the skin (and it smells so good) while rubbing it in vigorously. Now I’m really ready for action.
A morning walk/run is one of the recommendations. Douillard believes not only in eating according to the seasons, but in living each day according to the human being’s natural circadian rhythms. He advises being asleep by 10 pm, so we can benefit from the sleep cycles that include dreaming and detoxing, when the body naturally rejuvenates. We are ready for physical activity in the morning, and it’s most beneficial to do it then because it stimulates the metabolism.
Douillard was the director of player development for the New Jersey Nets and has developed a quick workout that does your heart as much good as long endurance exercise so like all of us who want more time – I was eager to try it out. I made the adjustment I need to and I power walk periodically instead of run because of former back pain.
